Back In Training, Soon.

The Doctor gave me some tablets for my bad back which seemed to have worked. It was my first day back at work yesterday, I only felt a small twinge, today I haven`t felt anything as yet so I am looking to get in some serious training as from tomorrow.
My official acceptance pack came yesterday, I had forgotten how many adverts there are for charities wanting people to run for them. I haven`t decided yet if I am going to run for a charity yet but I do have a couple lined up in case I do. It is just so much hassle getting the money off people, getting the names isn`t a problem, so I am a bit wary at the moment.

Training Blow

My training took a bit of a blow at the weekend. I went to Sunderland to watch football and somehow managed to hurt my back. I was fine until Sunday afternoon but could hardly move after sitting at the computer for ten minutes. I have taken some tablets and worn heat pads which have helped but I`m off to see the Doctor this afternoon.

My First Run

My first run is over, I actually managed to pull myself out of my chair and get my running shoes on. I only ran for about 12 minutes but it was a start, in fact it is the first time that I have run properly since the 2000 London Marathon.

To start off with I could feel a bit of pain in my left knee, I have been suffering with it a little bit lately but after about 5 minutes of running it went away. The only other problem I encountered was a little bit of a problem with my chest and breathing, which I put down to my Asthma, although I will have to monitor it. My conclusion is that I am very unfit and the road ahead of me is a very long one.

Course type:Undulating, road

Weather:Dry, chilly

Length of Run:About 12 minutes

Marathon Motivation or Lack Of It

It`s been a while since I posted on here, to be honest it is because I have been suffering from motivational problems. I get home from work, sit down and don`t want to move again. I am aware that I need to push myself to train, it is the only way that I am likely to finish the Marathon in a reasonable time without any injury. The weather does play a part in me not wanting to run, if it is a bright sunny day then I have no problems getting out of the house for a run but the slightest bit of grey sky then it is back to the comfy seat for me. This has got to change, which I am sure it will after a couple of runs and a bit of encouragement from my family and friends.
Anyway, I am going to give it a go to see what happens this afternoon.

Trainers Have Arrived

Saturday my trainers arrived, now all that has got to arrive is my will-power to start training. Hopefully Tuesday will be my first proper day of training, I have been doing a bit of running and cycling on my Postal round which I have been feeling the benefit already. The weather is due to take a turn for the worse this week so that will be a real test of my will-power, we will see.
