Trainers Ordered

Well I`ve ordered my trainers, a pair of shiny Nike Shox FSM for £63.99 plus P&P from Sportshoes Unlimited. They may not do the running for me but if the description is accurate they certainly will be comfortable. Hopefully they shall arrive within the next five days.

Lazy Weekend.

I`ve had quite a lazy weekend to be honest with you, I just havent felt like going running at all. I know that isn`t the attitude to have, it will change, but I have been so busy with work and a dog show. As a knock-on effect I really don`t feel like running today but I will definitely force myself to do a bit on Tuesday.

First few steps

I`ve been doing my first bit of running today, on my Postal round. I know it isn`t much but as I haven`t done any running for about 5 years I think I need to ease into it gently.
Started to look for trainers last night, I had forgotton how expensive they are and am I a pronator or over pronator?

London Marathon Acceptance Shock

Having been rejected several times in the past for the London Marathon, I have run it 5 times since 1986, I duly sent off my application form in the Summer fully expecting to be rejected again. However the other day I picked up a letter at work with a Marathon franking mark on it. At first I thought it may just be some advertising junk but on opening it I soon discovered that it was a letter saying that I had been accepted for next years race. After the shock had settled down my thoughts turned to horror, a marathon is 26 miles long which is a very long way when you have become as unfit as I have.
I need some new trainers so the first thing I did was buy a running magazine for the trainer ads, it also had a very good article on food, which although I probably wont follow it to the letter I will hopefully take some notice of it.
This time I want to make a concerted effort to train properly and shatter my rather slow personal best of 4 hours 29 minutes, so hopefully this blog will help me train and race better. My theory is that if people can see that I am making an effort then I will push my self even harder. I will be logging all of my training runs and chart my progress on here through the driving rain of Winter to Race day in Spring.
I `m not kidding myself, there is a very long way to go as I havent run since my last London Marathon in 2000, apart from to the pub that is.
